In accordance with the policy adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the contact information a domain is registered with must be correct and accurate at all times. Moreover, this information is publicly available on WHOIS lookup websites and while this may be okay for organizations, it may not be very convenient for individuals, because anybody can view their names and their personal postal and email addresses, especially in an age when identity fraud isn’t that infrequent. That is why domain name registrars have introduced a service that hides the details of their customers without modifying them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. In case it’s activated, people will see the details of the registrar, not the domain owner’s, if they make a WHOIS inquiry. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic Top-Level Domain extensions, but it’s still impossible to conceal your details with certain country-code ones.

Whois Privacy Protection in Hosting

If you get a hosting package from our company, you’ll be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names as long as their extensions support this service. You can register/transfer a domain name and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the registration process or you can enable the service for any of your domains at any time later via the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is remarkably easy – once you log in, you’ll have to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domain names that you have registered through our company. For each one of them you’ll see an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, which will inform you whether the service is enabled or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can turn off the service if it is currently activated.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you decide to order a semi-dedicated server plan from our company, you will be able to add Whois Privacy Protection to any of your domains by following several simple steps. In case you order a registration or a transfer during the signup process, you can get the service together with the domain. In case you omit this step and you think things over afterwards, you can add the Whois Privacy Protection service from the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you can administer the whole semi-dedicated server account. This is also the place where you can activate Whois Privacy Protection for all other domain names that you register through our company after the signup process. Renewing or disabling the service is just as simple and will take only a few clicks.
