Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is employed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email, but to appear as being sent from a different one, usually with the idea to scam the recipient someway. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a unique record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record features all the mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an address under the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be forwarded and it'll be removed. When you employ this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

If you host your domain names in a hosting account on our end and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in its own section where you can view which domains are currently protected. For the ones that aren't, you can enable the SPF protection solution and set up a lot of things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to set a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domains use our MX records. The aforementioned solution is the most secure one, and it can be used in the event that we manage the e-mail addresses for your domains and do not use another e-mail service provider. The newly created records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to secure your emails by enabling the SPF security service for any domain in your account with only a couple of clicks. This is done from the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous practical experience with these issues, you won't have any kind of trouble to activate the security. All that you'll have to do will be to find a domain name from a drop-down list then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be sent around the world only if they're sent from that particular server. In case your emails are handled by us and not by some third-party supplier, you'll also be able to take advantage of an option for email messages to be mailed only when the domain name has our MX records and this would be the safest option. Should you have any questions related to thisfunction, you'll be able to get in touch with our support crew 24/7.
